Interviewer: What should every accident victim know before speaking to the insurance company?
Rudez Law (Daniel Rudez): First, understand that the insurance company—yours or the other party’s—is not always on your side. Their job is to write the smallest check possible. People don’t realize how strategic and manipulative that world can be. It took me time to learn it myself. You have to be very careful.
Interviewer: So what’s the first thing someone should do after an accident?
Rudez Law (Daniel Rudez): Stay calm and make sure everyone’s safe. Then start documenting everything—photos, videos, details. Call the police if you can. And definitely talk to a lawyer before speaking to any insurance rep. Even with your own insurance company, things can get twisted in a way that hurts your case.
Interviewer: What are some misconceptions people have about hiring a personal injury attorney?
Rudez Law (Daniel Rudez): The biggest misconception is cost. People think they have to pay upfront, but that’s not how we operate. We work on a contingency basis. We don’t get paid unless you win. We also cover the upfront costs. And we make sure the client gets the majority of the settlement, not the other way around.
Interviewer: That’s great to know. How else do you look out for clients in those early moments?
Rudez Law (Daniel Rudez): We step in immediately to guide them. The other side is already building their case, trying to discredit the injured person. So if you don’t have legal guidance early, things can go sideways fast—even if the facts are on your side.
